Dallas College seeks an experienced Network Engineer to configure, deploy, test, and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN components for a secure, high‑performing network. Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and ITIL‑driven change control to ensure reliability and security.

The role requires Cisco networking expertise, VOIP experience, and a strong ability to work across teams, communicate clearly, and support end users and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of internet, computer, routers, switches, firewall, etc., to perform maintenance and upgrades.
  • Experience with Cisco Enterprise networking solutions, VOIP environments, and LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Ability to pursue ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware; able to administer and troubleshoot devices.
  • Capable of diagnosing, resolving, and documenting hardware/software and network issues; provide user training.
  • Experience with firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, and authentication systems.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders to meet business needs and attend/lead meetings for improvements.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff; strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of network security concepts, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and related protocols.
  • Able to learn new technologies quickly from documentation and resources.
  • Attention to detail and time management; prioritize assignments effectively.
  • Monitor network performance and determine when adjustments are needed.
  • May be asked to provide detailed information for hardware/software selection.
  • Convey technical information to nontechnical audiences clearly.
  • Self-starter who works independently and in a team; dependable and adaptable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication to present reports and proposals.
  • Provide exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains networking environment by documenting and ensuring system standards.
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting outages, upgrading, and collaborating with architects.
  • Updates knowledge through educational opportunities.
  • Implements systems per Dallas College ITIL change control guidelines.
  • Performs disaster recovery and data backups when required.
  • Diagnoses, resolves, and documents hardware/software network issues for local and remote locations.
  • Configures, manages, and maintains firewall, VPN, identity and authentication systems.
  • Maintains IPAM, DNS, DHCP, load balancer, PKI, certificates, and logging.
