Requirements
Must have:
- Were looking for advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, TCP/IP networking, subnetting, CIDR, and IP address planning.
- You should be proficient in configuring and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
- We need experience administering Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP, QoS, VPN technologies, and firewall policies.
- Familiarity with GPON/EPON fiber access networks and ISP operational practices is preferred.
- Experience with network monitoring tools, documentation systems, and IP address management platforms is expected.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are important for diagnosing complex production network issues.
- You should be able to manage multiple infrastructure projects while keeping the network available.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
- We value a strong commitment to accurate documentation and established change management procedures.
- A bachelors degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, military training, industry certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.
- At least three years of experience supporting enterprise networking, ISP infrastructure, telecommunications, or a related network engineering environment is preferred.
- Experience supporting fiber access networks, carrier connectivity, and multi-site enterprise infrastructure is preferred.
- Industry certifications such as MikroTik (MTCNA, MTCRE), Cisco (CCNA), CompTIA Network+, or similar networking credentials are preferred.
- A valid drivers license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record is required.
- You must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Responsibilities:
- We design, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise routing infrastructure supporting our fiber network.
- We configure and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and related routing technologies.
- We administer VLANs, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, inter-VLAN routing, QoS, firewall policies, VPN connectivity, and high-availability setups.
- We manage ASN operations, upstream peering relationships, and carrier connectivity.
- We perform firmware updates, security hardening, and configuration control for production networking equipment.
- We develop and maintain IP addressing strategies using subnetting, CIDR aggregation, VLSM, and route summarization.
- We handle IP address management processes, documentation, and utilization reporting.
- We coordinate ARIN resource requests, allocations, SWIP updates, and registration records.
- We participate in capacity planning, network expansion, and long-term infrastructure design.
- We configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching infrastructure across enterprise and access networks.
- We implement switching technologies including VLANs, RSTP/STP, LACP, port security, and network segmentation.
- We maintain consistent configuration standards across multi-vendor networking platforms.
- We support GPON/EPON fiber access infrastructure, customer provisioning, and service activations.
- We troubleshoot complex issues affecting routing, switching, fiber transport, and customer connectivity.
- We coordinate infrastructure deployments, carrier circuit installations, and network cutovers.
- We work with field technicians during installations, maintenance, and service restoration efforts.
- We monitor network performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and capacity.
- We maintain accurate network diagrams, topology documentation, IP inventories, and operational standards.
- We evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- We mentor technical staff on networking concepts, standards, and best practices.
- We participate in scheduled maintenance windows and an on-call rotation for after-hours network incidents.
- We perform other related duties as assigned by our supervisor.

We are SecureVision, and our Network Engineer role is based in Orange Beach, Alabama, with travel throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast to support residential, hospitality, commercial, and multi-dwelling properties. This exempt, in-person position works within our Network Operations team and reports to the Director of Technical Services. The role comes with a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 per year, along with benefits including 401(k), dental, health, life, paid time off, and vision insurance. The work environment includes office-based duties as well as site visits to telecommunications closets, equipment racks, MDF/IDF rooms, rooftops, and outdoor infrastructure locations.
