Job summary

High Plains Propane, LLC is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise networks across LAN, WAN, and data centers onsite. You will configure Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Meraki devices, and related equipment to ensure performance and security, while deploying VPNs, PKI, and encryption.

Responsibilities include monitoring with SolarWinds and Splunk, performing vulnerability checks, and supporting Windows/Linux/UNIX and virtualization

Qualifications

• Proven background in computer networking with core protocols.
• Experience with Cisco networking platforms, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• VPN configuration (IPsec) and security controls (SSO, LDAP, SSL/TLS).
• Troubleshooting with Cisco ISE, IDS/IPS, load balancers, and network faults.
• Scripting in Python or Bash; Ansible or PowerShell a plus.
• Architect scalable, high-availability network solutions for data centers/cloud.
• Knowledge of VoIP and SDLC principles for deployment.
• Preferred certifications CCNA/CCNP/Security+ or equivalent.

• Deploy and sustain security technologies including VPNs, PKI, firewalls, IDS, and encryption.
• Monitor performance with SolarWinds/PRTG/Splunk; perform vulnerability checks and fix issues.
• Administer advanced routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS) and IPsec VPNs.
• Support system administration across Windows/Linux/UNIX and virtualization (VMware, Citrix).
• Contribute to network architecture planning for high availability and load balancing.
• Support GPON/XGS-PON, Ethernet, and transport tech for broadband services.

Job description

Must have:

• – Proven background in computer networking, with solid knowledge of core protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and file transfer standards including SFTP, FTP, and SCP.
• – Practical experience with Cisco networking platforms, including routers, switches, and ASA firewalls; familiarity with Meraki solutions is an advantage.
• – Strong capability in configuring VPNs, especially IPsec, and implementing security controls such as SSO, LDAP integration, and SSL/TLS encryption.
• – Hands‑on troubleshooting expertise with Cisco ISE, IDS/IPS technologies, load balancers, and network hardware faults.
• – Familiarity with automation scripting in Python or Bash; experience with Ansible or PowerShell is a plus.
• – Ability to architect scalable, high‑availability network solutions for data centers and cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• – Knowledge of telecommunications systems, including VoIP, and understanding of SDLC principles for system deployment.
• – Preferred certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent credentials.
• – Experience with Calix GPON and XGS‑PON services is desirable.

• – Administer advanced routing technologies including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, and IPsec VPNs.
• – Support system administration activities across Windows, Linux, UNIX platforms, and virtualization environments such as VMware vSphere and Citrix.
• – Contribute to network architecture planning for high availability, including load balancing and redundancy in data center or cloud-based setups.
• – Support GPON/XGS‑PON, Ethernet, and transport technologies for residential and commercial broadband services.
