Job summary

Tier One Technologies is seeking a Network Engineer to monitor and support LAN and Wi‑Fi for a US Government client in a hybrid role based in Eagan, MN. The position runs Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST with on-call rotations and possible after-hours work.

Responsibilities include diagnosing complex network incidents, troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, SD‑WAN, and Wi‑Fi devices while developing documentation and runbooks for ongoing ops. U.S.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of LAN/Wi‑Fi network support experience.
• Experience with Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Juniper Mist, or Fortinet.
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, VLANs, and Spanning Tree Protocol.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across OSI layers 1‑7.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Must be US citizen or Permanent Status Green Card holder; able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
• Must have lived in the US for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within last 5 years.

• Resolve and document trouble tickets in ServiceNow with steps for reference.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Tier 1 staff.
• Manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, meet deadlines.

• Tier One Technologies is seeking a Network Engineer to perform LAN and WiFi monitoring and support for our US Government client.
• This hybrid Contract-to-Hire position will be located in Eagan, MN.
• The work schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST with occasional on-call rotation and after-hours work.
• SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose and resolve complex network incidents impacting performance, stability, or security.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting across routers, switches, firewalls, WAN links, VPNs, SD-WAN infrastructures, and Wi-Fi devices.
• Analyze packet captures, logs, and telemetry data to identify and document root causes.
• Manage escalations for chronic or recurring network issues and conduct deep-dive investigations into performance degradation, intermittent connectivity, latency, and jitter.
• Support high-availability environments, including failover, redundancy, and disaster recovery planning.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, standards, and runbooks.
• Perform root-cause analysis and produce technical reports on major incidents.
• Test and validate new network technologies and configurations prior to production rollout.
• Resolve and document trouble tickets through ServiceNow, including troubleshooting steps and solutions for future reference.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Tier 1 and other staff.
• Manage multiple concurrent tasks, prioritize workload effectively, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
• 3+ years of hands-on network support experience in a LAN/Wi-Fi environment.
• Proven experience with wireless networking solutions such as Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Juniper Mist, or Fortinet.
• Proficiency in LAN protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across OSI Layers 1-7.
• Understanding of LAN security standards and best practices.
• Experience with ServiceNow or comparable ticketing systems
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Status Green Card holder.
• Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
• Must have lived in the US for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
