Job summary

Capital Solutions Group in Fort Meade, Maryland, seeks a Network Engineer to provide enterprise network support, architecture, and security services in a high-security environment.

The role requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 3+ years in LAN/WAN engineering, plus hands-on Cisco/Juniper and firewall experience.

On-site duties include design, implementation, and on-call support with ticketing tools; active TS/SCI with polygraph is a must.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 3+ years minimum experience, or 5+ years without degree, or 3 years demonstrable network engineering experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide network support involving design, architecture and security boundaries.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers.
• Maintain data center networks and virtualization (VMWare, Solaris containers).
• Work with TCP/IP, routing/switching protocols, L2/L3, and IPSEC VPNs.
• Support on-call and ticketing system tasks.

LOCATION: Ft. Meade, Maryland

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides Network support that requires system level design, architecture or enterprise security and security boundaries, datacenter virtualization, CAN/MAN/LAN infrastructure packet capture software, TCP/IP protocol stack, routing/switching protocols, stateful firewalls, and L3/L4 access controls.

• (U) Cisco IOS, CatOS, NxOS, filter and access control, Ciscoworks, TACACS+, ASA, FWSM, HP Openview, Cisco routers, Cisco Switches, F5/Cisco load balancers, Infiniband, Juniper, FiberChannel (FC) SAN, and VPN (IPSEC)
• (U) Physical installation and configuration and troubleshooting of network routers, switches, load balancers and security devices.
• (U) Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and routing and switching protocols.
• (U) Strong working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols.
• (U) Strong working knowledge of stateful firewalls, and L3 access controls.
• (U) Working knowledge of Atlassian Tool Suite.
• (U) Able to support on-call requirements.
• (U) Able to work in live call environment and utilize remedy and/or other ticketing system to track tasking.
• (U) Virtualization products; VMWare and Solaris containers.

LCAT QUALIFICATIONS:

CERTIFICATION: DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification

EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree + 3 years minimum experience, OR
• No Degree + 5 years minimum experience, OR
• 3 (three) years demonstrable experience in network engineering (LAN), architecture, monitoring, security, and protection. Must have datacenter network design and architecture experience to include installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and IPSEC virtual private networks.
• 2 (two) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

NOTE: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
