Qualifications

Network Engineer – ISSO Development Program

Bishop & Company is a Network Engineer for an excellent client in Honolulu, HI.

Candidates must reside in Oahu and be available to interview immediately.

This team role requires hands‑on network engineering and technical support services, including network configuration and management, system administration, security implementation, troubleshooting, and Tier 2 and Tier 3 support. This position is also designed as a developmental pathway toward becoming an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). The successful candidate will receive training, mentoring, and progressively increasing responsibilities in information system security, cybersecurity compliance, and the protection of classified and controlled systems. Over time, the individual will be expected to develop the knowledge and experience necessary to perform both Network Engineer and ISSO responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Support the design, installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of network systems and infrastructure.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity and system issues, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Assist in designing and implementing network security architectures and technical safeguards that strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity posture.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 help desk and technical support issues.
• Provide support for Windows and Linux systems and related network infrastructure.
• Perform network and system security checks and assist with implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Build knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, security controls, system authorization processes, and information system security documentation.
• Work closely with the Facility Security Officer (FSO), Information System Security Manager (ISSM), system administrators, and other stakeholders to maintain the organization’s security posture.
• Progressively assume additional ISSO duties as training, experience, and qualifications are achieved.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline; relevant certifications or equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum two years of experience in network administration, system administration, or related IT roles preferred.
• Experience working with Windows and Linux environments.
• College coursework, technical training, certification, or comparable experience in networking, systems administration, or cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated understanding of networking concepts, network administration, cybersecurity fundamentals, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical and security‑related issues.
• Willingness and ability to learn and interpret DoD, federal, and company cybersecurity requirements.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, procedures, system records, and security materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical staff, management, customers, and security personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a cross‑functional environment.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Willingness to complete required cybersecurity training and obtain applicable certifications.

Development Opportunity:

This position offers structured progression from Network Engineer to Network Engineer/ISSO. Initially, responsibilities will focus on network engineering, system administration, troubleshooting, and foundational security tasks. Through formal training, mentorship, and hands‑on experience, the employee will develop expertise in DoD cybersecurity requirements, security controls, system documentation, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and information system security.

Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $80-95K annually. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
