Job summary

Wings Credit Union in Colorado Springs seeks a Network Engineer III to lead design, implementation, and support of the enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure. You will research new technologies, set standards and roadmaps, and ensure secure, reliable, and scalable operations.

This role collaborates across IT teams to improve performance, strengthen business continuity and disaster recovery, and drive innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, preferred.
5+ years' combined experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, wireless, 802.1x, security, firewall management, disaster recovery and network architecture, required.
2+ Years of experience in a technical support or service desk environment, required.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, design, implement, and support enterprise network technologies, including campus and data center networking, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, security platforms, and telephony systems.
Monitor network, voice, and firewall performance, identify issues, and report outages to stakeholders.
Lead enterprise level infrastructure projects.
Design and implement security measures on devices, identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
Maintain documentation including topology diagrams, devices configurations, and troubleshooting wikis.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve connectivity issues and infrastructure failures.
Support tech lead and team lead in planning, implementation, and testing of projects.
Provide feedback to tech lead for SLA adherence and improvements.
Participate in 24x7 on call rotation ensuring uptime and availability.

Job Description

The Network Engineer III provides advanced technical leadership in the design, implementation, optimization, and support of the organization's network and telecommunications infrastructure. This role is responsible for researching and deploying new technologies, developing infrastructure standards and roadmaps, and ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable network operations. The Network Engineer III collaborates across IT teams to enhance system performance, strengthen business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities, and drive technology innovation that supports organizational goals.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for infrastructure designs, plans, installations, and configurations to include:
- Evaluate, design, implement, and support enterprise network technologies, including campus and data center networking, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, security platforms, and telephony systems.
- Responsible for actively monitoring network, voice, and/or firewall performance, proactively identifying potential issues, and reporting outages to appropriate stakeholders.
- Responsible for analyzing infrastructure usage and predict future needs to ensure scalability and performance.
- Act as a lead for enterprise level infrastructure projects.
Design and implement security measures on devices, identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
Define and document configuration standards and compliance goals for SME based specific discipline area of focus.
Maintain accurate and current documentation including topology diagrams, devices configurations, and troubleshooting wiki's.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues and infrastructure failures.
Support tech lead and team lead in designing, planning, implementation, and testing of projects.
Provide technical assistance to users regarding connectivity issues, severity incident, and troubleshooting problems.
Maintain SLAs within the ITSM ticketing system ensuring proper customer satisfaction metrics.
Identify areas of opportunity to automate repeatable processes.
Provide feedback to tech lead and team lead for SLA adherence and improvements.
Participate in 24x7 on call rotation ensuring uptime and availability to the organization.
Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Wings policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, preferred.
5+ years' combined experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, wireless, 802.1x, security, firewall management, disaster recovery and network architecture, required.
2+ Years of experience in a technical support or service desk environment, required.

Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Advanced expertise in enterprise networking, including Cisco routing and switching, network architecture, security, disaster recovery, monitoring, patching, and performance optimization.
Strong understanding of information security and regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to evaluate, implement, and integrate emerging technologies within the enterprise environment.
Knowledge of network interoperability, current and future-state architecture, and infrastructure best practices.
Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to IT team members.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Experience developing business cases, technology roadmaps, and infrastructure improvement plans.
Skilled in solution design and implementation using industry best practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, and Visio.
Experience with Aruba Wireless and firewall administration.
Working knowledge of 802.1X authentication preferred.

Certifications Required:

At least one of the following: CCNA CCIE CompTIA Sec+, upon hire required.
CCNP or equivalent, preferred.
Expired certifications may be considered with demonstrated skills or relevant experience in lieu of active certification.

Additional Information

PAY RANGE: $109,000 to $126,000 Annually (I16), plus 15% annual target bonus.
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, location and internal pay equity.
