Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a Network Engineer 2 to support and enhance its enterprise network across data center and field environments. The role emphasizes routing, switching, security, and automation to improve reliability and scalability.

You will deploy new technologies, implement changes through governance processes, and partner with engineering, security, and OT teams to maintain high availability and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• CCNA certification or demonstrated equivalent enterprise experience.
• Experience with Cisco ISE for network access control.
• Experience developing network automation using Python, YAML, and Ansible.
• Experience with WAN routing, LAN switching, VLANs and wireless network design.
• Data center networking experience.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure, support, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure (routers, switches, wireless, and related services).
• Deploy and integrate new network technologies per standards, requirements, and roadmaps.
• Implement network changes using change management, security, and compliance processes.
• Develop and leverage network automation and scripting to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Monitor network performance and availability to support reliable operations.
• Support network segmentation, routing policies, and access design to meet requirements.
• Participate in lifecycle activities: evaluations, refreshes, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, systems, and application teams for enterprise IT/OT connectivity.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation including diagrams and configurations.
• Provide Tier 2 escalation for network incidents and requests.
• Coordinate with vendors for circuit provisioning and support.
• Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance.
