Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Network Engineer II to serve as the frontline for network incidents, providing 24x7 support across production and corporate networks. You will troubleshoot a range of issues, maintain WAN/LAN infrastructure, and work to restore services quickly while coordinating with ISPs and vendors.

The role requires flexibility for shift schedules, including weekends and potential early start times. A BS/BA and 2–5 years' related experience, plus CCNA or equivalent, are desired.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2–5 years' related experience
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, server OS, AD, firewalls, DNS, email
  • Experience with content delivery networks and internet peering
  • Familiarity with hardware tech related to CDP performance and capacity
  • CCNA or equivalent certification or training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of defense for network incidents with 24x7 support
  • Troubleshoot layer 1–3 issues; maintain WAN, BGP, ISIS, LAN, FHRP, VLAN, STP
  • Monitor production network health and mitigate risks for quick service restoration
  • Deliver customer-centric support through multiple channels
  • Create and update SOPs for network changes, analysis, and mitigation
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPN endpoints

Job description

What this Job Entails

The Network Engineer II is a focal point for all internal and external orders required to maintain the network. This position requires the ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to details. Scope: Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.

Works on problems of moderate scope.

Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects.

This position requires flexibility with shift schedules, including weekend coverage (Saturday or Sunday) and the ability to work either morning or swing shifts. ie. Be based in the Eastern Time Zone and start work at 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM Pacific Time, or

  • Be based in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone and work until 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM Pacific Time.
Your Roles and Responsibilities
  • Major duty: Serving as the first point of defense for all network-related incidents, providing 24x7 network support for production and corporate network.
  • Technical skills: Troubleshooting layer 1-3 issues and maintain WAN, BGP, ISIS, LAN, FHRP, VLAN, STP, etc. and related services.
  • Daily jobs: Proactively monitor production network health, assess potential risks and take mitigation actions to ensure quick service restoration.
  • Daily jobs: Deliver customer-centric support through multiple communication channels.
  • Daily jobs: Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network changes management, issue analysis and mitigation strategies.

Install, configure and maintain various network hosts and services like routers, switches, firewalls, VPN endpoints.

Perform network maintenances/upgrades (often during normal working hours, but sometimes during the evening or weekend).

Troubleshooting network issues and outages.

Participate in global production and corporate network including edge, backbone, datacenter, POP, and content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure.

Handle multiple vendor switch on various servers in dealing with hardware/software issues.

Handle traffic, and any queries raised by ISP/Partners.

Provide support for any incidents such as input errors, CRC, RMA etc.

Work directly with ISP/Vendors on fixing any issues related to network.

Required Qualifications/Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Have a full understanding of routing, switching, server operating systems, active directory, firewalls, wireless controllers, DNS, email, virtual machines and software applications
  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Familiarity with content delivery networks and internet peering strategies
  • Understanding of server hardware technologies relative to content delivery performance and capacity
  • CCNA or equivalent

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment.
  • Must be able to use a computer.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Salary Range

Salary Range$72,960.00 - $115,200.00 USD (Salary)

Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit. Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position.
