Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking an IT Network Administrator to maintain secure network communications, including voice, data, and video services for City personnel. The role supports all aspects of the network infrastructure and requires vigilance in system quality and security.

Responsibilities include installing and testing cabling and hardware, providing end-user support, documenting equipment and licenses, and monitoring security. A valid Texas driver license is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• Minimum 3 years of wired and wireless Cisco networking experience.
• Experience with IP video and VOIP systems.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and desktop troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains computer, wireless, Wi-Fi, network, and telecommunications within the City of Laredo infrastructure.
• Installs, configures, and tests cabling, voice sets, PCs, and networking hardware to support and maintain the effective operation of the City network.
• Provides technical support to end users; troubleshoots and resolves operating system, software, and hardware issues.
• Inventories and documents detailed information of equipment and software licensing.
• Monitors network security software for suspicious or malicious connections or files.
• Will be required to drive a city vehicle for City business use.
• Performs related work as required.
