Job summary

SGS Consulting in Springfield, IL seeks a Network/Video Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and support complex video networks, VMS, and camera systems. You will prepare designs, BOMs, and test plans, while coordinating with PMs and installers to meet client needs.

The role requires 3–5 years in network engineering or wireless communications, with strong IP networking knowledge and experience with video systems. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential for client-facing work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; BSEE/BSCE preferred.
• 3–5 years in network/system engineering or wireless communications.
• Experience deploying outdoor Point to Point and Point to Multi Point wireless solutions, Cambium Networks preferred.
• Strong organization, project management and communication skills.
• Proficient in IP networking, design methodologies, and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS).
• Experience with video equipment and Video Management Solutions.
• Experience working with end users is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting to non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated and able to maintain focus under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Final Design and implementation of the video network including infrastructure, VMS, and camera equipment
• Delivering professional presentations
• System staging
• System acceptance testing
• Develop and maintain engineering designs, diagrams, and bill of materials
• Provide technical support and advice to PM and Installation teams
• Working with Operations and Project Managers to complete site walks to determine specific client needs and scope
• Create project specific install plans, scope documents, and test plans
• Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot equipment as required; provides support and assistance to third parties for sub contracted activities
• Act as external liaison for customers’ general contractors, subcontractors, and trades people as needed during implementation and support phases
• Provide customer and peer training
• Deliver final customer system documentation

• Experience directly working with end user customers is desirable
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to non technical audiences
• Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
