Job summary

Independence First is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and monitor a multi-service network supporting wireless, data, video, and voice. You will design stable PC images, apply security patches, and ensure best practices.

Core duties include managing the firewall, servers, backups, and network performance. This full-time role requires daily hours Monday–Friday with occasional evenings or weekends; remote work is not indicated.

Qualifications

College diploma in computer science or equivalent.
Advanced knowledge in Fortinet products.
Advanced knowledge of VMware/Proxmox and remote desktop services.
Advanced knowledge with Intune.
Experience with Mitel phone systems and data privacy basics.
Strong knowledge of network hardware and standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication; customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

Design, plan, implement, and monitor the network infrastructure.
Monitor firewalls, switches, routers, and security systems for performance and safety.
Manage servers, email, backups, and device management.
Patch, update, and maintain hardware and software.
Assist with backups, server room UPS, and security audits.
Troubleshoot end-user hardware/software and provide user training.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for network services.
