Role Overview

Our client is supporting a large-scale data center project in the Texas Panhandle and is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support physical network deployment and implementation.

This is an onsite, field-oriented engineering role rather than a traditional network architecture position. The Network Engineer will work closely with network architects, construction teams, and the existing onsite technical team to deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and support network infrastructure throughout the project.

The project is located in a remote area near Amarillo, TX, so candidates must be comfortable traveling to the site and staying onsite or in nearby accommodations for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support hands-on deployment and implementation of network infrastructure at a large-scale data center project.
  • Assist with fiber deployment, installation, routing, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform network path planning and support physical infrastructure planning.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network equipment and connectivity.
  • Identify and resolve network and physical infrastructure issues in the field.
  • Work closely with network architects and onsite teams to execute network designs and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with construction and infrastructure teams as needed during deployment.
  • Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of newly deployed network infrastructure.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following required PPE and site procedures.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and priorities as the data center build progresses.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional Network Engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with network implementation, deployment, or infrastructure support.
  • Experience working with fiber optic infrastructure, cabling, or physical network deployment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand network/infrastructure diagrams and follow implementation plans.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on field environment rather than exclusively in an office or remote setting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and remain at a remote project site for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around construction activities and wearing required PPE.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, construction teams, and onsite personnel.
Preferred Experience
  • Data center network deployment or implementation experience.
  • Large-scale data center, hyperscale, or greenfield infrastructure projects.
  • Fiber path planning and physical network infrastructure.
  • Network equipment installation and configuration.
  • Experience supporting network deployments in active construction environments.
  • Cisco, Arista, Juniper, or other enterprise/data center networking technologies.

This is at a remote Texas project site, not a traditional work-from-home Network Engineer position. Candidates should be prepared to travel to the Amarillo TX area and stay onsite or nearby for 1-2 weeks at a time during the assignment OR be open to drive to the job sites if you are already local to the Amarillo area.

Travel and lodging expenses will be covered. The project team is also open to discussing rotational schedules and periodic trips home depending on project requirements.

Candidates must be comfortable with the travel, remote location, physical work environment, and extended onsite schedule associated with this project.
