  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems. Linux system administration experience is a plus.

  • CCNA or CCNP certification required.

  • Security+ certification required.

  • Experience developing, planning, and implementing scalable network solutions, network layouts, and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Strong experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Experience implementing network security measures, including firewall rules, access controls, VPNs, encryption, and security protocols.

  • Proficiency in network performance monitoring, traffic analysis, latency reduction, throughput optimization, metrics, and alerting.

  • Experience designing and maintaining high‑speed, scalable, fault‑tolerant LAN/WAN network architectures.

  • Knowledge of load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, traffic shaping, VoIP, GRE tunneling, IPSec, IP encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and Network Address Translation (NAT).

  • Experience troubleshooting complex network issues using network analyzers, WAN testing equipment, and network simulators.

  • Experience optimizing end‑to‑end system performance, network connectivity, and dataflow management.

  • Ability to develop and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, policies, procedures, and accreditation records.

  • Knowledge of DoD/IC regulations, network security requirements, and ISO 9000 standards.

  • Ability to lead complex network engineering efforts, coordinate with cross‑functional teams, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Desired Technical Skills:

Candidates should possess working knowledge of and the ability to use or support some, preferably most, of the following technologies:

  • Juniper and Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls

  • Palo Alto firewalls

  • Dell and HPE Linux servers

  • Experience patching and upgrading Linux servers and networking equipment

  • Ansible – configuration management and automation

  • Nutanix – virtual machine management

  • Rubrik – data storage and backup solutions

  • Nomad – container orchestration

  • SALT scripts – automation and configuration management

  • LibreNMS – network monitoring

  • NetBox – network infrastructure documentation and management

  • Riverbed or comparable network acceleration technologies

The Network Engineer provides assistance in all aspects of network management, from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. Analyzes designs, specifications, and related documentation to implement communication system requirements supporting distributed software engineering environments. Evaluates network characteristics, including traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput. Troubleshoots network problems and recommends procurement or modifications to network components to improve performance, security, reliability, and mission operations.

Capabilities:

  • Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.

  • Develop algorithms used in modules or incorporated into models associated with the research and development of technologies and systems.

  • Ensure all received materials are inspected for evidence of tampering and immediately report suspected physical security incidents.

  • Configure and maintain organizational network diagrams and accreditation documentation.

  • Integrate hardware and software to satisfy ISO 9000 requirements and applicable DoD/IC regulations.

  • Design, integrate, test, and deploy solutions to established network issues.

  • Optimize end‑to‑end system performance and dataflow management.

  • Coordinate with dataflow organizations, end‑customer recipients, follow‑on data repositories, and tasking organizations to mitigate potential adverse impacts on system‑wide dataflow.

  • Implement network solutions supporting server requirements, including load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, traffic shaping, VoIP, GRE tunneling, IPSec, IP encryption, MoIP, and NAT.

  • Coordinate with systems engineering and dataflow teams to ensure proper mission operations and minimize downtime.

  • Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain various network devices, interfaces, and methodologies.
