Job summary

Piper Companies in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Network Engineer to design, support, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations while leading integration efforts for recently acquired businesses.

This hybrid role requires collaboration with security, systems, and cloud teams. Responsibilities include assessing networks, designing LAN/WAN/SD-WAN, managing firewalls and VPNs, and creating documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments across multiple locations.
  • Experience integrating acquired companies or supporting complex network migrations and infrastructure transitions.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and architecture concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, routing, switching, wireless technologies, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise virtualization technologies including VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud networking environments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects, manage timelines, and communicate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess network, firewall, VPN, and wireless environments of acquired organizations and develop integration plans aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and VPN architectures across multiple locations.
  • Partner with managed service providers to maintain enterprise firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and network security controls.
  • Collaborate with systems administration teams to integrate Active Directory and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Ensure secure authentication, connectivity, replication, and access management across enterprise systems.
  • Identify and implement network enhancements to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with network hardware vendors, ISPs, and third-party technology partners.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis for network-related issues.
  • Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Contribute to infrastructure roadmaps, capacity planning efforts, and annual budgeting activities.

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer to join a growing industrial technology organization with a strong history of innovation, engineering excellence, and strategic acquisitions. The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations while leading network integration efforts for newly acquired businesses. This position will be hybrid in Washington, D.C.!

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include:

  • Professional networking certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet NSE, or Azure Network Engineer Associate

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Entra ID, and hybrid identity integrations
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site enterprise environments
  • Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, and enterprise infrastructure integration initiatives

Compensation for the Network Engineer includes:

  • Salary: $130,000 - $140,000
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, Paid Holidays, and additional company-sponsored benefits
