Job summary

Aac-Inc in Washington, DC is seeking a Network Support Engineer to sustain and troubleshoot the agency's network infrastructure. You will monitor, maintain, and assist with Tier 1-2 network issues under guidance from a Senior Network Engineer, with on-site work five days a week.

Qualifications

• Experience with IPSec VPN concepts and connectivity to Microsoft Azure.
• CCNA certification is highly desired.
• Must obtain agency suitability clearance prior to the start date.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco routers/switches, Meraki wireless, and Palo Alto firewall appliances.
• Support internet connectivity and Zscaler remote access; LAN-to-LAN IPSec; vendor-hosted sites and ExpressRoute connections.
• Daily monitoring of network health using ManageEngine, OpManager, NetFlow and Configuration Manager tools.
• Create and update SOPs and configuration tracking documents regularly.
• Handle routine network troubleshooting including cabling, IP conflicts, and VLAN assignments; coordinate with teams and vendors to restore services.
• Monitor Palo Alto firewall logs for traffic anomalies and report findings.
• Troubleshoot WAN/MPLS circuit issues and open ISP tickets as needed.

Supports the daily operations of the agency's network infrastructure. This role focuses on monitoring, maintenance, and Tier 1-2 network troubleshooting. The candidate will work under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer to ensure network availability and performance.

Position requires on-site support 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Support and maintain LAN/WAN, network devices, UPS systems, and environmental monitoring systems for the DC headquarters facility and 52 field offices.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, Meraki wireless solutions, and Palo Alto firewall appliances.

Support internet connectivity and Zscaler remote access services for users, LAN-to-LAN IPSec connections to partner networks, and dedicated WAN connections such as vendor-hosted sites and Microsoft ExpressRoute connections.

Perform daily monitoring of network health using ManageEngine, OpManager, NetFlow, and Configuration Manager tools.

Create and update SOPs and various configuration tracking documents on a regular basis.

Handle routine network troubleshooting, including physical and logical connectivity issues, port configurations, and VLAN assignments. Coordinate with local teams and vendors to diagnose problems and restore services as needed.

Monitor Palo Alto firewall logs to identify and report traffic anomalies.

Troubleshoot WAN/MPLS circuit issues and open support tickets with ISPs.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant work experience in network support. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
• Experience withCisco Routing and Switching: Strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS, StackWise cabling and logic, and EtherChannel troubleshooting.
• Experience withFirewalls: Basic understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and the ability to navigate and operate Panorama for monitoring purposes.
• Experience with Cloud and VPN: Familiarity with IPSec VPN concepts and connectivity to Microsoft Azure.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting Cisco Meraki wireless solutions.
• Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to diagnose Layer 1-7 issues, including cabling problems, IP conflicts, network loops, routing issues, and related network challenges.
• Must be available for weekend maintenance events and emergency outage support.
• Must be proactive, possess strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn while working independently and as part of a team.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to present ideas and reports clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Experience supporting a nationwide mid-sized Federal agency enterprise is a plus.
• CCNA certification is highly desired.
