Job summary

vTech Solution is seeking a Network Engineering Specialist to design, implement, modernize, and support a large-scale, geographically distributed enterprise network. The role covers routing, switching, WAN, SD-WAN, data centers, cloud connectivity, and security across corporate, transportation, and operations environments.

Responsibilities include building standards, capacity planning, and implementing high-speed links (10G–400G), Cisco Nexus/ACI, and cloud connectivity (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive enterprise network engineering experience in large, complex environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of enterprise routing and switching technologies.
  • Advanced experience with Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, Nexus platforms, and enterprise network technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, VLANs, VRFs, STP, QoS, multicast, VPNs, and route redistribution.
  • Strong experience with enterprise WAN and SD-WAN architecture and implementation.
  • Experience with carrier telecommunications services and WAN circuit technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise LAN and WAN infrastructure.
  • Support complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments using BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, VRFs, HSRP, STP, QoS, multicast, and route redistribution.
  • Develop network standards, reference architectures, engineering specifications, and configuration standards.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance analysis, lifecycle management, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Engineer WAN connectivity using Internet, broadband, Ethernet, MPLS, EPL/EVPL, wavelength services, and dark fiber.
  • Troubleshoot complex WAN performance issues including latency, packet loss, jitter, routing, and carrier transport.
  • Support Cisco data center technologies such as Nexus switching and Cisco ACI.
  • Assist with data center consolidation, relocation, migration, and modernization efforts.
  • Engineer high-speed connectivity including 10G, 40G, 100G, and 400G links.
  • Support optical networking technologies including DWDM, dark fiber, and data center interconnect solutions.
  • Design and support network segmentation with VLANs, VRFs, ACLs, firewalls, VPNs, and IPSec.
  • Participate in implementing modern network security architectures like Zero Trust and SASE.
  • Support cloud connectivity technologies such as Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, and VPNs.
  • Troubleshoot routing, connectivity, performance, and security issues across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Support connectivity for operational systems including CCTV, voice, building systems, and monitoring platforms.
  • Utilize network management and monitoring tools like SolarWinds, ServiceNow, ThousandEyes, and packet analyzers.
  • Maintain accurate network inventory and CMDB data.
  • Develop automation using Python, Ansible, APIs, and Terraform where appropriate.
  • Create High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs, Methods of Procedure, implementation plans, test plans, rollback procedures, network diagrams, and operational documentation.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and assess dependencies, risks, capacity limitations, and implementation concerns.

Job Summary:

The Network Engineering Specialist is a senior technical role responsible for the design, implementation, modernization, and operational support of a large-scale, geographically distributed enterprise network infrastructure. This position supports diverse environments including corporate, transportation, data centers, and operational facilities, ensuring secure, reliable, and highly available network services through hands-on expertise in routing, switching, WAN, SD-WAN, data center technologies, cloud connectivity, and network security.


Responsibilities:


  • Design, engineer, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise LAN and WAN infrastructure.

  • Experience with Azure ExpressRoute and AWS Direct Connect cloud connectivity solutions.

  • Experience with network management and observability platforms like ServiceNow CMDB, SolarWinds, and ThousandEyes.
