Goldbelt Incorporated seeks a Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role prioritizes secure, reliable services for federal and commercial customers and includes occasional travel with preference for candidates in Juneau, AK.

The successful candidate will configure routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers (HPE Aruba, SonicWALL, VMWare or equivalent) and support Azure/AWS hybrid

Summary:

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure supporting Goldbelt, Inc. and its subsidiaries. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing network services across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, with a strong emphasis on compliance, cybersecurity, and operational excellence in support of federal and commercial customers.

This position is remote with occasional travel; however, candidates based in Juneau are preferred due to the complexity of the local network.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and firewall solutions
• Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliability and scalability
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity, latency, and security incidents
• Implement and maintain network security controls in accordance with NIST, DoD, and customer security requirements
• Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from vendors such as HPE Aruba, SonicWALL, VMWare or equivalent
• Support cloud and hybrid networking solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, or other government-approved cloud environments)
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines
• Participate in system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle replacement activities
• Collaborate with Vendors, Partners, and IT operations teams to ensure integrated and compliant solutions
• Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, audits, and compliance assessments as required
• Provide Tier II/Tier III network support and on-call support as needed
• Ensure compliance with Goldbelt policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal regulations

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, routing, and switching
• Working knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, access controls, and secure remote access
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple environments and layers
• Familiarity with network monitoring, logging, and performance management tools
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
• Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers and with outside agencies, partners, shareholders, and business associates
• Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences
• Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Level 1 – Network Engineer I:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or a related field or demonstrated proficiency as a Goldbelt IT Support Technician II.
  • Foundational knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Ability to learn and apply network configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, and support procedures
  • HPE Aruba Networking Certified Associate – Switching or equivalent certification.
• Level 2 – Network Engineer II:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in network engineering or network administration roles
  • Certified in HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional – Switching (ACP-S) and/or HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional – Campus Access (ACP-CA) or equivalent certification
  • Hands-on experience configuring and supporting enterprise networking technologies (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)
• Level 3 – Network Engineer III:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional – Switching (ACP-S), HPE Aruba Networking Certified Professional – Campus Access (ACP-CA), or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience independently designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and enterprise network security technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network issues and providing technical guidance or mentorship to less experienced network engineers
  • Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment background

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs)
• Previous government contracting experience

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $112,700 to $137,750 annually.
