Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates’ degree in Information Systems / Computer Science or equivalent.
• Active CCNA certification.
• 5+ years in Information Systems, healthcare preferred.
• 3+ years hands-on networking with Cisco/Fortinet.
• Experience with LAN/WAN, VLANs, 802.1x, DHCP, DACLs.
• Experience with WAN, routing protocols, IP ACLs and AAA/TACACS+.
• Experience designing basic IP schemes for branches and 802.11 wireless issues.
• Strong ownership, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors network performance and security; addresses outages and bottlenecks.
• Responds to incidents, conducts root-cause analysis, and implements preventive measures.
• Collaborates with IT teams to resolve cross-system issues.
• Maintains accurate network diagrams, configs, and documentation.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Network Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of Ardent’s network infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for working outages, deploying new network hardware, and troubleshooting complex network problems.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks, security risks, and network outages
• Responds promptly to network incidents and outages, conducting thorough investigations to identifies root causes and implement effective solutions
• Collaborates with other IT teams to resolve issues that span multiple infrastructure components
• Maintains accurate network diagrams, configurations, and documentation
• Troubleshoots LAN and WAN service issues on Cisco, Meraki, and Fortinet platforms
• Configures switching platforms, Cisco 3750x, 9200 and 9300, Cisco Nexus, Fortiswitch
• Configuration of routing platforms, Cisco ASR and ISR, Fortigate, Meraki
• Installation of network hardware
• Activation of leased WAN circuits
• Participates in daily team meetings and various project meetings
• Creates and reviews change scripts
• Works with security team to mitigate active threats

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Associates’ degree in Information Systems / Computer Science or equivalent technical training.
• Active CCNA.
• 5+ years of experience working in Information Systems, preferably in the healthcare industry.
• 3+ years of hands on networking experience with Cisco and/or Fortinet products.
• Experience troubleshooting and configuring LAN Infrastructures, STP, Ether-channel/Port Channel configuration, Dot1.Q Trunking, VTP, 802.1x, DHCP, DACLs.
• Experience troubleshooting WAN infrastructures, routing protocols, IP ACLs, leased circuits
• Experience troubleshooting AAA and TACACS+.
• Experience designing basic IP schemes for branch locations.
• Experience troubleshooting basic 802.11 wireless issues.
• Experience configuring SNMP monitoring and logging.
• Must demonstrate strong ownership of responsibilities.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Visio and Office applications.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10% per year for deployments.
• Ability to multitask between strategic tasks while resolving operational problems.
