Google Cloud in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Network Engineer with strong BGP/IS-IS/MPLS experience to design and optimize high‑performance enterprise networks. The role requires writing readable, scalable code in Python, C++, or Go and adept network troubleshooting.

The US base salary range is $163,050–$181,000 plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Hybrid work is possible per policy, with reporting to the Google office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field with 3 years of network engineering experience.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree with 1 year of experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in BGP, IS-IS/IGP, MPLS, and coding in Python, C++, or Go; strong network troubleshooting.

• Conduct quantifiable analysis of network data and capacity forecast models to enhance scalability, efficiency, and user experience.
• Evaluate network system inefficiencies and flaws to design and implement improved software, designs, and processes.
• Develop software to improve the performance, security, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex software, hardware, and other network system problems with minimal guidance.
• Scale systems sustainably by creating tools and automation that improve system reliability and operational velocity. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support multi-vendor, SDN-based wired and wireless networks.

• Position requires 1 year of experience in the following: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for exchanging routing information between autonomous systems; Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP) including Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS); Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) for high-performance network data-carrying; Writing readable and structured code in Python, C++, or Go for software development utilizing engineering best practices; and Network troubleshooting to resolve interruptions using established procedures and tools.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,050 - $181,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location.
