Job summary

SyMec LLC is seeking a Network Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain enterprise and tactical networks across classified environments. You will work with cybersecurity, systems, and operations teams to ensure availability, performance, and DoD-compliance.

The role requires active DoD Top Secret clearance, a relevant degree or equivalent experience, and hands-on experience with router/switch, VPNs, firewalls, and Type 1 encryption devices. Competitive salary and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience (typically 4+ additional years).
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise or DoD environments.
  • DoD 8140 (8570) compliant certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE) at time of hire.
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification.
  • Strong command of Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NX-OS configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing and switching fundamentals, and network security principles.
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs to network devices.
  • U.S. citizenship (required for clearance).

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure across LAN, WAN, and data center environments.
  • Implement and manage routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, plus VLANs, QoS, and multicast.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and network access control solutions.
  • Deploy and manage Type 1 encryption devices for classified network connectivity.
  • Harden network devices in line with DISA STIGs and remediate vulnerability scan findings.
  • Support RMF and ATO activities by producing network diagrams, configuration baselines, and security documentation.
  • Monitor network performance and availability; troubleshoot outages and lead root cause analysis.
  • Plan and carry out network upgrades, migrations, and technology refreshes with minimal mission impact.
  • Support network integration for new systems and program deliveries, including lab and field testing.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, IP address plans, and change records.
