Description
SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer (Fleet Support) to join our TACNET ISEA team. This position is a fully remote position supporting dedicated distance support to US Navy ships in Norfolk, VA. Must be local to area. Candidate will interface with Active Duty personnel and US Government employees to provide top-notch repair support focused on United States Navy networks. Related systems include ADNS, ISNS, CANES, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, WRBS, and all associated applications. The position may require less than 10% travel throughout the year, both US and international, along with some off-hours support. PMW-160 manages the Navy's tactical networks, requiring expertise in network engineering and Navy-specific technologies.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide enterprise-level network support for Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I) PMW-160 Programs of Record (PoR) systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, and secure complex network systems critical for naval operations.
- Offer break/fix IT support via phone, chat, email, and remote access tools.
- Analyze issues in an Enterprise LAN Shipboard Environment and determine resolution strategies.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend configuration changes when needed.
- Collaborate with external partners, including vendors and agencies, for troubleshooting and system integration.
- Support server, network, desktop, and peripheral equipment remotely.
- Communicate with US Navy Customers regarding network maintenance and support activities.
- Participate in technical meetings, report progress, and deliver presentations.
- Engage in product teams and engineering reviews.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor's degree with two (2) or more years of related experience; Master's degree with no experience required. Exceptional experience may substitute for education.
- 4+ years experience in a military network environment related to the responsibilities.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Experience with Cisco switches and routers or Windows Server.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Current DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
- Ability to obtain an additional certification (CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, VCP, etc.) within 6 months of hire.
DESIRED SKILLS:- 1+ years IT Helpdesk experience in a Windows call center environment.
- Experience with ticketing systems like HEAT, Remedy, or similar.
- Support experience with Microsoft Office and Windows OS in an enterprise setting.
- Familiarity with DoD chat applications and remote access tools.
- Understanding of databases and knowledge management tools.
- Ability to query and generate reports from databases.
- Customer service orientation.
- Knowledge of systems like CANES, ADNS, CENTRIXS, ISNS/ORT, VIXS, WRBS, etc., is a plus.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. Applications are accepted continuously. Covid Policy: No vaccination requirement; follow client site policies when on-site.
