Horizontal Talent is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer for a 12-month engagement focused on switching and routing infrastructure. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise network equipment in access and distribution layers and document configurations.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, configuring and maintaining enterprise network equipment across access and distribution environments.
• Experience provisioning Cisco Catalyst C9000 switches and Cisco Catalyst C8000 routers.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve Layer 1-3 network issues using structured troubleshooting.
• Ability to document network configurations, topology updates, and procedures clearly.
• Ability to work independently with proactive communication.
• Support day-to-day network operations with reliability and accuracy.

Join a hands-on enterprise networking team supporting a 12-month opportunity focused on switching and routing infrastructure. This role is ideal for a self-directed Network Engineer who enjoys building, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise network equipment across access and distribution environments
• Provision and deploy Cisco Catalyst C9000 series switches and Cisco Catalyst C8000 series routers
• Diagnose and resolve Layer 1 through Layer 3 network issues using a structured troubleshooting approach
• Document network configurations, topology updates, and standard procedures clearly and thoroughly
• Work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining proactive communication with team members and stakeholders
• Support day-to-day network operations with a strong focus on reliability, accuracy, and follow-through

Skills

• Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals and the OSI model, especially Layers 1 through 3
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst C9000 series switches
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst C8000 series routers
• Practical experience supporting network infrastructure in access and distribution layer environments
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically and efficiently
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to take ownership of work with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills

• Experience configuring Multi-Chassis EtherChannel (MEC)
• Exposure to SD-WAN deployment or administration
• Strong documentation habits and comfort working within established processes
• Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach

The pay range for this role is $40 - $77 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
