Job summary

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) seeks an Engineer for the ICE Network Engineering team to lead network design, validation, deployment, and 24×7 operational support.

The role advances one of the largest global financial networks and supports critical services, with office refreshes and migrations. The successful candidate will multitask in a fast-paced, professional environment, applying strong problem-solving skills and communication.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of general network principles in a service-critical environment.
• Extensive routing protocols and troubleshooting skills (BGP/OSPF).
• Experience with L2/L3 VLANs and Spanning Tree.
• Strong knowledge of NAT, route maps/ACLs, and routing policies.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Jinja, JSON).
• Strong Python development skills and Git experience.
• 3+ years hands-on production network support and design experience.
• Proficient in Unix/Linux administration and problem solving.
• Excellent communication and customer service attitude.

Responsibilities

Overview

Job Purpose

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) presents a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and business challenges in the financial sector. The Engineer role within the ICE Network Engineering team provides leadership in network design, validation, deployment, maintenance and 24×7 operational support.

The successful candidate will work on further advancing one of the largest and global financial networks with a wide variety of critical services as well as help drive large scale office refreshes and migrations. The successful candidate will be able to multitask in a dynamic team-based environment demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities and the highest degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure
• Document and publish standards and designs
• Assist ICE staff with problem solving and escalation procedures
• Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same
• Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure
• Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams
• Lead incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering or related field
• In depth knowledge of general network principles and technology, and how to apply them in a service-oriented mission critical environment
• Extensive network routing protocols and troubleshooting skills in BGP and OSPF
• Experience with switching protocols – L2/L3 Vlans, Spanning tree
• Strong Knowledge of NAT, route maps/ACLs, and routing policies
• Strong knowledge of modern configuration management tools (Ansible, Jinja, JSON)
• Strong knowledge and experience developing in Python
• Proficient with GIT for software collaboration and version control
• 3+ years’ experience hands on support and troubleshooting of production networks
• 3+ years’ experience with design and implementation on complex works
• Running and analyzing sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding
• Basic Unix/Linux system administration
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Excellent customer service attitude
• Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with wireless technology
• Experience working with Firewalls and Load balancers
• Expert level network certifications
• Firewall and Load Balancer advanced certification
• In-depth hardware knowledge of switches and routers: (Internal chipsets specifications, TCAM and memory details, buffering capabilities and multicast replication details)
