Job Overview
AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our growing infrastructure operations team. The role focuses on driving the stability and sustainability of next‑generation networks, automating, and scaling network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Scale support of multiple data center locations and provide day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management.
- Collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution, under the direction of Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers.
- Leverage experience supporting large‑scale enterprise‑class networks and perform network implementation and troubleshooting.
- Manage AWS’ vast network infrastructure, establish and follow best practices, and refine operational procedures.
- Use a ticketing system and workflows to manage work and priorities, completing customer requests and projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and cords.
- Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment.
- Participate in migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Travel within and outside the regional work area as required; maintain a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in a 24/7 environment, participating in primary responder rotation and providing after‑hours support as needed.
- Operate in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- 1+ years of Linux operating system experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Effective customer interaction during problem resolution and ability to operate efficiently under pressure.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Familiarity with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking, stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
- Industry‑standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+) or relevant experience in computer science, networking engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools).
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
