Job summary

AWS is seeking a Network Deploy Technician to join our infrastructure operations team in Herndon, VA. You will contribute to the stability and scalability of our next‑generation networks and help automate day‑to‑day network operations.

You will collaborate with internal customers and vendors, support large‑scale enterprise networks, and participate in migration, hardware rollout, and 24/7 on‑call coverage as required.

Qualifications

1+ years of computer networking experience.
1+ years of Linux operating system experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Scale support of multiple data center locations and provide day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management.
Collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution, under the direction of Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers.
Leverage experience supporting large‑scale enterprise‑class networks and perform network implementation and troubleshooting.
Manage AWS’ vast network infrastructure, establish and follow best practices, and refine operational procedures.
Use a ticketing system and workflows to manage work and priorities, completing customer requests and projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and cords.
Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment.
Participate in migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
Travel within and outside the regional work area as required; maintain a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
Work in a 24/7 environment, participating in primary responder rotation and providing after‑hours support as needed.
Operate in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments.
Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

1+ years of computer networking experience.
1+ years of Linux operating system experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Effective customer interaction during problem resolution and ability to operate efficiently under pressure.
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
Familiarity with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
Experience working in a data center environment (racking, stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
Industry‑standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+) or relevant experience in computer science, networking engineering, or a related field.
Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools).
Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
