Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Network Automation Engineer for a 12+ month contract to drive data center and distributed network automation initiatives. You will build network-as-code capabilities across hyperscale cloud and on-prem environments using Python, APIs, and AWS/Azure networking.

You will design scalable automation workflows, validate in lab settings, and promote production-ready changes across large, complex networks while collaborating with a fast-moving engineering team.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Python development experience, ideally building automation, orchestration, or workflow-driven platforms.
• Experience with network automation and infrastructure-as-code / network-as-code concepts.
• Background automating delivery and management of large-scale data center networks.
• Experience building or supporting API-driven automation for infrastructure, network devices, or cloud services.
• Familiarity with AWS environments, cloud networking concepts, and automation inside cloud-based ecosystems.
• Experience with event-driven systems, preferably Kafka or similar streaming/event platforms.
• Ability to build workflows for configuration management, provisioning, upgrades, drift detection, and remediation.
• Understanding of network primitives such as IP addresses, device state, configuration actions, access controls, and telemetry.
• Ability to work in a fast-moving engineering environment with rapid iteration, testing, and deployment expectations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to safely automate changes across large, complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy automation workflows for large integrated data center networks and distributed access environments.
• Develop Python-based automation that treats network infrastructure as code and interfaces with APIs and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with teams to validate workflows in lab environments before production rollout.
• Contribute to rollback or kill-switch capabilities to reduce deployment risk at scale.
