Job summary

Cypress Consulting is seeking a Network Automation Engineer to drive automation initiatives remotely from the United States. The role requires hands-on scripting, IaC, and deep networking expertise across concurrent engagements.

You will design workflows, produce deployment documentation, and present technical findings to mid-level stakeholders while mentoring junior engineers and supporting delivery quality.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of network engineering or automation experience.

Role overview

The Network Automation Engineer supports technical projects as a mid-to-senior team member, applying deep network engineering and automation experience across multiple concurrent engagements.

This role combines hands-on automation development, technical documentation, project delivery, and clear communication with technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain network automation workflows using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and NetBox.
• Provide network engineering and automation expertise across multiple technical projects.
• Lead defined workstreams while coordinating with project leads and other delivery team members.
• Create detailed designs, deployment documentation, technical procedures, and presentation materials.
• Deliver technical briefings and explain how proposed solutions support business and operational requirements.
• Identify and escalate project risks, dependencies, and issues that could affect successful delivery.
• Support continuous improvement, quality standards, and mentoring for less-experienced engineers.

Required qualifications

• Approximately eight or more years of relevant network engineering or automation experience.
• Hands-on experience with network automation scripting, tooling, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Practical experience with automation platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, NetBox, or comparable tools.
• Deep expertise in at least one networking discipline with working knowledge across additional technical areas.
• Ability to work independently with regular project checkpoints and manage responsibilities across concurrent efforts.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills for engineering and mid-level stakeholder audiences.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with a valid green card.

Preferred qualifications

• CCNP-level certification or two current CCNA-level certifications.
• Comparable certifications such as VCAP, JNCIS, CCSE, or PCNSE supported by hands-on experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in client-facing, consulting, or project-driven engineering environments.

Work conditions

• Remote position for candidates based in the United States.
• Full-time contract engagement at $75 per hour.
