Job summary

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a Network Engineer to design, install, maintain and troubleshoot District-wide and local network and voice communications systems. The role supports Windows client/server environments and enforces security programs under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in IT/CS, 2+ years in network design/maintenance, and CCNA or equivalent experience. Some after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university majoring in information technology, computer science or a closely related field.
  • Two years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of network communications including LAN/WAN systems.
  • Cisco CCNA certification may be substituted for one year of the required education or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, procures, installs and tests the performance of the Wide/Local Area network configurations and associated hardware and software.
  • Maintains and supports voice and data communications network hardware and software.
  • Assists in planning, design, procurement, installation and performance monitoring of Windows client/server based systems.
  • Provides technical support to other Information Technology Department staff as required and assists with account administration.
  • Assists in the development and presentation of a computer training program in relation to computer security.
