Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in network engineering, computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in network engineering, tactical communications, systems integration, enterprise networking, or related discipline.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, wireless networking, network services, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience integrating networks across enterprise, cloud, edge, tactical, or coalition environments.
  • Experience developing network diagrams, configurations, test plans, interface documentation, and technical implementation guidance.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, encryption, access control, monitoring, vulnerability management, and DoD network authorization requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor and multi-transport connectivity issues.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, briefing, and customer engagement skills.
  • DoD 8140 baseline certification appropriate to assigned duties, or ability to obtain it within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate network architectures for autonomous platforms, tactical edge compute, sensors, mission applications, command and control, and data exchange.
  • Assess and integrate terrestrial, satellite, radio frequency, wireless, mesh, cellular, tactical data link, and other transport options.
  • Engineer resilient connectivity for contested, disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth conditions, including failover, redundancy, prioritization, and degraded-mode operations.
  • Coordinate network interfaces with Joint, Service, coalition, partner, commercial, and program-specific environments.
  • Develop network diagrams, interface control documentation, addressing plans, routing designs, configuration baselines, bills of material, and test procedures.
  • Plan and execute laboratory, range, exercise, and field integration testing; troubleshoot connectivity, performance, interoperability, and configuration issues.
  • Coordinate network security, identity, encryption, firewall, VPN, cross-domain, access, and monitoring requirements with cybersecurity and authorization stakeholders.
  • Support spectrum coordination, network access requests, account provisioning, site surveys, equipment staging, and deployment preparation.
  • Monitor network performance and develop recommendations to improve availability, latency, throughput, observability, and operational resilience.
  • Translate operator mission needs into network requirements and explain technical constraints and tradeoffs to non-network stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with platform integrators, vendors, government engineers, operational units, and communications organizations.
  • Prepare technical status, risk, readiness, and decision briefings for leadership.

LMI seeks a Network Architect to support a Department of War mission parter in designing and integrating resilient network architectures that support autonomous operations across Joint, allied, partner, and commercial systems. The Network Architect focuses on connectivity in contested, disconnected, intermittent, and low-bandwidth environments and coordinates technical interfaces from enterprise networks to tactical edge platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on network professional who designs, tests, troubleshoots, documents, and operationalizes complex communications solutions.

This position requires on-site support in Tampa, Florida and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.
Responsibilities

  • Understanding of cybersecurity, encryption, access control, monitoring, vulnerability management, and Department of Defense network authorization requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor and multi-transport connectivity issues in laboratory and field environments.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, briefing, and customer engagement skills.
  • Department of Defense 8140 baseline certification appropriate to assigned duties, or ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting a combatant command J6, a Service communications organization, or a Special Operations Forces unit.
  • Experience with tactical radios, satellite communications, mesh networking, software-defined networking, Team Awareness Kit, or tactical data links.
  • Experience with cloud networking, zero trust architecture, cross-domain services, or coalition information-sharing environments.
  • Cisco, CompTIA, cloud networking, wireless, cybersecurity, or related professional certification.

Target salary range: $165,000 - 183,000
