Title: Network Administrator I

Department: DT Technology Infrastructure

Pay Frequency: Monthly

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - 70,400; Commensurate with education and experience

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm; Flexibility is required, as occasional evening hours may be necessary based on department needs.

Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remote work

Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation of network hardware infrastructure to ensure reliable daily operations. This role assists with troubleshooting, monitoring, testing, and implementing network solutions while gaining experience with emerging infrastructure technologies and best practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements

  • Assists with the implementation, maintenance, and support of the Tarrant County College District (TCCD) network infrastructure across campuses, remote sites, disaster recovery environments, and cloud-based systems
  • Monitors network performance and supports troubleshooting efforts using remote management and monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Center, Paessler Router Traffic Grapher (PRTG))
  • Supports the configuration, testing, maintenance, and documentation of network devices and technologies, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP systems, related network management platforms
  • Collaborates with network administrators, security personnel, system administrators, and third‑party vendors to support network operations, upgrades, and implementation activities
  • Assists with IP addressing, subnetting, and DHCP scope configuration to support network connectivity and operational needs
  • Ensures network installations comply with established wiring standards, safety requirements, and building codes while maintaining accurate infrastructure documentation
  • Participates in campus and remote site field surveys and supports the integration of operational and network technologies in coordination with internal departments
  • Travels to TCCD campuses, facilities, and affiliated locations as needed to support network infrastructure operations and projects
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision

Works under the supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours and four (4) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
  • Valid Texas Driver License with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation; ability to successfully complete TCC authorized driver requirements within the first 90 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related area
  • At least one (1) year’s professional working experience in a higher education environment
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience supporting enterprise networking, wireless, security, and unified communications platforms (e.g., F5, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure(ACI), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco DNA Center(DNAC), Cisco Catalyst switching, Cisco wireless solutions, Cisco Unified Communications, Palo Alto firewalls)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Center and Software-Defined Access (SDA) concepts
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network administration
  • Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and building effective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365 platform
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify routine issues and elevate non‑standard problems using established procedures in a fast‑paced work environment
  • Ability to review basic information and follow policies, procedures, and guidelines when completing assigned tasks
  • Ability to coordinate assigned work and communicate effectively with faculty and staff to support campus and departmental operations
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
