Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Assistant III, Instructional Support for the CiscoLab at the Northeast Campus.

This part-time role supports instructors and students by handling lab operations, tutoring, and teaching assistance in a lab environment. Responsibilities include coordinating with teachers, maintaining and checking out lab equipment, preparing teaching aids, supporting network lab tasks, and providing secretarial support for program bids and records while ensuring

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements, or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Current CCNA certification is preferred.
  • At least one year of working experience with Cisco routers, switches, VLANs, and basic network troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Maintains and checks out to students equipment used for field production.
  • Plans, prepares, develops, and maintains teaching aids or materials.
  • Maintains lab software and coordinates with Academic Computing for lab workstations.
  • Provides secretarial duties for program bids and purchase orders, and keeps advisory committee minutes.
  • Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce concepts.
  • Researches equipment for purchases and maintains inventories.

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $24.28
Work Hours: Flexibility is required as part-time workschedules may vary based on individual campus/departmental needsincluding evenings and weekends.
Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remotework
Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a part-timeposition, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week.
Job Summary

This role is responsible for performing instructional tasks in alaboratory setting and assisting students through tutoring andteaching.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher tocoordinate instructional efforts
  • Maintains and checks out to students, equipment used for fieldproduction
  • Plans, prepares, develops, and maintains various teaching aids ormaterials
  • Maintains software on lab computers and liaises with AcademicComputing for lab workstations
  • Provides secretarial duties for program bids and purchase orders,program recordkeeping for files and advisory committeeminutes
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lessonassignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
  • Researches equipment for purchases
  • Delegates work duties to work-study student assistants
  • Previews, orders, and maintains inventories of equipment,instructional materials and supplies
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege

Supervision

Works under the general supervision of the assigned campusleader

Required Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Cisco Packet Tracer or similar physical labequipment
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonalrelationships including strong listening, verbal, and writtencommunication
  • Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems,including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentationsoftware
  • Skilled in troubleshooting issues related to the OSI model andbasic IP addressing concepts
  • Ability to work independently during assigned lab coveragehours

Work Environment

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanicalparts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. Thenoise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
