Job summary

Kids for the Future in Killeen, TX is seeking a Network Administrator to design, configures, installs, maintains, and troubleshoot enterprise networks and related equipment. The role supports a dynamic IT landscape and requires a 2-year degree with relevant experience.

The position emphasizes security configurations across switches and routers, with duties spanning daily network operations, vendor change impact analysis, and support for virtual environments.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field of study.
• Four (4) years’ experience with enterprise networks, virtual environments, and IP phone systems; or
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Network+ and Security+ certifications, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing guidance with designing, planning, and implementing a high-quality and reliable network infrastructure.
• Assisting in daily operations by providing technical support and assistance for all city network systems.
• Implementing and administering security configurations and practices on all switching equipment.
• Analyzing potential impacts to the network from changes requested by vendors and staff.
• Configure, install, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, servers, access points, point-to-point radios, and other network devices.
• Providing network connectivity and comprehensive support for virtual environments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Network Administrator

Designs, configures, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots enterprise level networks and associated equipment. proactively plans, repairs, and implements a network that supports a dynamic Information Technology landscape.

The employee will have the responsibility of:

• Providing guidance with designing, planning, and implementing a high-quality and reliable network infrastructure
• Assisting in daily operations by providing technical support and assistance for all city network systems
• Implementing and administering security configurations and practices on all switching equipment
• Analyzing potential impacts to the network from changes requested by vendors and staff
• Configure, install, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, servers, access points, point-to-point radios, and other network devices.
• Providing network connectivity and comprehensive support for virtual environments
• Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Associates Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field of study; and
• Four (4) years’ experience with enterprise networks, virtual environments, and IP phone systems; or
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience
• Network+ and Security+ certifications, preferred

Special Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
• Must have the ability to work flexible hours as required. Including some nights and weekends as necessary
• Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and have the ability to comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards
