Job description

We are looking for an experienced .Net backend developer to help create a best-in-class optimization application for biogas.

Context of job Key accountabilities:

1. The POM application analyses many supply and demand sources and calculates the optimal flow of biogas between them given a set of contractual and physical constraints.
2. The application handles a significant share of biogas contracts, and it has been designed for use by both expert and non-experts alike.
3. The POM consists of a frontend, a backend, and a model execution service (MES). This role will focus on the backend and requires a strong background in .Net/C# and in database technologies. Experience with serialisation protocols and cloud technologies would be an advantage.
4. Take ownership of development and testing of different backend components, with full accountability and responsibility.
5. Work with other developers, Business Analysts, and testers as part of the wider POM Team.
6. Contribute to the analysis, design and development of business processes and interfaces as they relate to the POM.

Essential Education

A numerate degree from a major university.

Essential experience and job requirements

1. Previous experience in developing server-side .Net/C# systems is a MUST.
2. Knowledge of C# language standards, generic interfaces, and functional programming using LINQ is a MUST.
3. Experience in multithreaded high availability micro-service applications using SQL and No-SQL databases is a MUST.
4. Strong focus on automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment is a MUST.
5. Good communication skills are a MUST.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

1. Experience with protobuf and gRPC is a PLUS.
2. Experience in finance, operations research or grid computing is a PLUS.
3. Knowledge of Kubernetes and Redis is a PLUS.
4. Delivery experience using Agile/Scrum and associated tools.
5. Experience working with geographically remote business partners and teams.
