Job summary

Versant Power in Hampden, ME seeks a System Operator NERC to manage the electric grid within the System Operations Office. You will ensure safe, stable operation of transmission and distribution systems, and coordinate with ISO-NE and NMISA markets to maintain reliability.

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Power, 2+ years in a technical field, and strong math/communication skills. A valid Maine driver’s license and ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts are needed.

Qualifications

Two year Associates’ Degree in Electrical Power from an accredited institution is required.
Two years’ experience in a technical field is required.
Excellent mathematical, communication, and organizational skills are required.
Background checks per NERC standards will be conducted.

Responsibilities

Operates the Versant Power transmission and distribution systems safely and reliably.
Maintains knowledge of ISO-NE, Maine/LCC procedures and FERC/NERC requirements.
Prepares operating reports in line with FERC, NERC and ISO-NE reporting rules.
Diagnoses and corrects system issues from weather events or equipment failures.
Assists with outage planning and BES facility work requests.
Monitors resources for efficient use and collaborates with ISO-NE and NMISA markets.
