The program includes testing, extensive training, and hands-on work in ISO-NE’s Control Room to operate the New England bulk electric system. No direct industry experience is required, though candidates with technical training or experience in power systems, naval nuclear programs, or power plants are encouraged to apply.
The Power Grid Operations Associate role is an entry pathway into becoming a New England Grid Operator. Associates must successfully complete an intensive eight‑month System Operator Initial Training (SOIT) program and test for and earn a NERC Reliability Coordinator certification. This program develops the technical and operational skills required to help operate the New England bulk electric system within ISO‑NE’s Control Room.
No direct industry experience is required, though applicants with technical training and/or experience in an electrical utility, power systems training, U.S. Navy nuclear, and/or power plant are encouraged to apply.

The expected salary for this position is $124,624 per year.
