Qualifications

• Must possess an unrestricted medical license in the US.
• Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Nephrology.
• Maintains BLS and required certifications for privileges.
• Active DEA registration and NPI.
• Must complete VA credentialing and privileging.
• English fluency and professional competence for the assignment.
• Meets VA health, privacy, and security requirements.
• Able to provide on-site and on-call coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient nephrology evaluation and care.
• Manage AKI, CKD, ESRD, electrolyte disorders, hypertension, nephrolithiasis.
• Oversee dialysis modalities and other kidney replacement therapies.
• Care for transplant patients and intoxications involving renal care.
• Perform procedures within privileges (dialysis catheter placement, biopsy).
• Coordinate with VA teams and document medical records timely.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Participate in quality, safety, and medical-staff activities.
• Attend meetings, orientations, and clinical conferences.
• Provide on-call coverage from weeknights to holidays.
