Job description

UPMC Kidney Transplant Program - Transplant Nephrologist

UPMC invites applications for a Transplant Nephrologist position within the Kidney Transplant Program, in collaboration with the Department of Medicine and the Starzl Transplantation Institute (STI).

Responsibilities and Expectations

1. Oversee and execute medical care for pre- and post-transplant kidney transplant patients, including living donors, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
2. Develop and monitor clinical protocols for patient management before and after transplantation.
3. Coordinate multidisciplinary care within the Starzl Transplantation Institute.
4. Participate in transplant-specific Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, adhering to CMS regulations and UNOS policies.
5. Collaborate with Transplant Administration to optimize clinical workflows for the kidney transplant program.
6. Engage in teaching and curriculum development for medical and surgical residents and fellows.
7. Mentor in transplant-related research alongside renowned clinical and basic science faculty.

Qualifications

• ABIM board certification in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
• Medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Exceptional clinical knowledge and skills.
