Job summary

CoxHealth is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced clinical care for premature and medically complex newborns in the NICU and related settings. The NNP collaborates with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and the care team to deliver evidence-based neonatal care.

The role emphasizes high-acuity patient management, 24/7 in-house neonatology coordination, and family-centered communication.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral Neonatal Nurse Practitioner degree.
  • Missouri APRN license or eligibility.
  • NNP-BC certification.
  • BLS and NRP certifications current.
  • NICU experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of neonatal patients in the NICU setting.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for critically ill and premature infants.
  • Perform advanced neonatal procedures including intubation, line placement, lumbar puncture, and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding patient status, treatment plans, and education.
  • Participate in delivery attendance for high-risk births.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation via EPIC EMR.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based neonatal practices.

Hours PRN (24-hour shifts, 12 HR AM and 12 HR PM shifts)

The NNP provides advanced clinical care to premature, critically ill and medically complex newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and affiliated newborn care settings. The NNP works collaboratively with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based neonatal care. Position Summary The NNP provides advanced clinical care to premature, critically ill and medically complex newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and affiliated newborn care settings. The NNP works collaboratively with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to deliver evidence-based neonatal care.

Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Missouri APRN license or eligibility for licensure
  • National certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC)
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications
  • NICU experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered and family-focused care
  • Ability to manage high-acuity neonatal patients in coordination with the 24/7 in house neonatologist
  • Experience in Level III or Level IV NICU settings
  • Delivery room experience
