Job description

Neonatologist (FULL TIME) – Staten Island University Hospital

Staten Island University Hospital - Northwell Health is seeking an enthusiastic BC/BE Neonatologist to join our division faculty at our Level 3 NICU. We provide an evidence-based, rewarding clinical practice in a collegial environment staffed 24/7 by neonatologists, NNP/PAs, dedicated neonatal RTs, and pediatric residents. Our unit offers comprehensive neonatal services, including high frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, and pediatric surgery. Patients requiring cardiac surgery and ECMO are seamlessly cared for at our affiliate, Cohen Children’s Medical Center. The hospital is experiencing rapid growth in obstetric volume, with approximately 3,500 deliveries and 650 NICU admissions anticipated in 2024.

Applicants will have the opportunity to work in the state-of-the-art, newly constructed Gruppuso Women and Newborn Center opening in August 2024. The new 20-bed Joseph Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is under construction and expected to open at the end of 2025. There are significant opportunities for teaching residents and participating in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives, in conjunction with our ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program. Faculty appointments are commensurate with experience through the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. The compensation package is highly competitive and includes salary, fringe benefits, malpractice insurance, and CME allowances.

Founded in 1861, Staten Island University Hospital is a 714-bed, specialized teaching hospital located in New York City’s fastest-growing borough.

Staten Island is the third-largest borough in New York City, offering diverse neighborhoods, parks, natural areas, and cultural attractions. It is accessible via bridge from Brooklyn or New Jersey, or by ferry to Manhattan, with a commute of less than 30 minutes by car. Known as "The small town in the Big City," it offers suburban living within the Big Apple—breathtaking views, world-class culture, education, and neighborhoods to suit every taste.
