Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Neonatologist to join NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. The role focuses on high-risk deliveries, pre-term and full-term newborn care, and supervising residents in a Level III NICU.

Responsibilities

  • Attend high-risk deliveries and manage pre-term and full-term newborns.
  • Precept and supervise interns and residents.
  • Participate in hospital/department subcommittees including clinical quality improvement and resident education.
  • Supervise residents’ clinical performance and lead bedside discussions and formal lectures.
  • Diagnose and manage patients in the Level III Neonatal ICU.
  • Support call schedule (approx. 80 hours per 2-week cycle; ~40 hours/week).
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and ensure excellent work-life balance.

Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Neonatologist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Harlem Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Harlem and the only Safety Net Hospital in Northern Manhattan. Harlem Hospital is recognized for providing centers of excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging, and Sexual Assault Forensics. Today, Harlem Hospital continues providing outstanding care to all New Yorkers. Opportunity Details
  • Clinical responsibility - attending to high-risk deliveries and manage pre-term and full-term newborns.
  • Precepting and supervising interns and residents.
  • Faculty participates in hospital and department subcommittees which include both clinical and quality improvement and also participate in the resident education subcommittee.
  • Responsible to supervise residents’ clinical performance and lead a bedside discussion and provide formal lectures.
  • Diagnosis and management of patients in the Level III Neonatal ICU.
  • Call Schedule: Calls are scheduled 80 hours per 2-week cycle (average 40 hours per week), which include day, night, and weekend call.

  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Required.
  • Active New York State Medical License.

Wages and Benefits

Annual Base Salary: $250,000* (board eligible); $260,000* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $370,520** (board eligible) and $381,520** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost to you.
  • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
  • Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
