Position Summary

The Department of Neonatology at Children’s Minnesota is seeking a board‑certified/board‑eligible neonatologist to join a group of 24 neonatologists. Neonatologists care for babies across the entire spectrum of neonatal care, including those requiring ECMO and major surgical conditions. The department works closely with the active fetal program at the Michael and Ann Ciresi Midwest Fetal Care Center, offering fetal interventional treatments such as twin‑to‑twin transfusion syndrome, EXIT procedures and fetal repair of MMC.

The successful candidate will provide care for babies across the spectrum of neonatal care while rotating in the Level III and Level IV NICUs in St. Paul and Minneapolis, as well as in partner neonatal programs at community sites. Neonatologists work in a multidisciplinary collaborative care model across all sites. With nearly 200 neonatal beds, we care for approximately 3,000 babies annually and run a neonatal transport program that handles air and ground transport for ~500 babies each year.

Our department has a decades‑long history of active participation in numerous clinical research trials, a quality department, and is a member of the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Consortium. Children’s Minnesota also serves as a training site for the neonatal‑perinatal medicine fellowship program at the University of Minnesota.

Opportunity Highlights
  • All levels II‑IV of neonatal care
  • Largest high-risk neonatal care program in the Upper Midwest with 194 neonatal beds
  • 24/7 coverage by neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners at the primary sites, Level III NICU, and Level IV NICU in St. Paul and Minneapolis
  • Nationally recognized fetal intervention and ECMO programs with exceptional clinical outcomes
  • Schedule that supports a healthy work/life balance
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, 403(b) match, malpractice insurance with tail coverage, and more.
License/Certification/Registration required?
  • Board BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Fellowship program, per subspecialty requirements.
  • Board BE/BC in Sub Specialty, if applicable. Ability to be successfully credentialed by both hospital and third‑party payers.
Required Education
  • Must have an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree from another country with a current Minnesota Medical License or the ability to obtain one.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Clinical competency and expertise in caring for hospitalized children.
  • Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of common medications, side effects, and contraindications.
  • In‑depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Compassionate and approachable.
  • Responsible and trustworthy.
