Job summary

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Critical Care Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Team in Nashville seeks a registered respiratory therapist to provide specialized care during ground and air transport. You will assess patients, manage ventilation, medications, and airway support as part of a CAMTS-accredited team based at the Clarksville base after orientation.

Qualifications

• Registered respiratory therapist licensed and able to work in neonatal/pediatric transport.
• Experience in critical care transport is preferred.
• Ability to manage advanced respiratory support during transport.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to identify clinical needs.
• Initiate and manage transport per protocol: mechanical ventilation, NIV, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, nitric oxide, high-frequency ventilation.
• Administer respiratory medications and monitor blood gases/POCT results.
• Perform arterial punctures and prepare for intubations as needed.
• Collaborate with receiving units and referring facilities to coordinate transport.
• Maintain competencies per CAMTS accreditation and institutional guidelines.
