Job description

UCSF is a national leader in newborn care. Our children's hospital in San Francisco has a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) devoted to providing the most advanced care available to critically ill infants. As a certified level IV regional NICUs, we are capable of providing all levels of newborn care, from basic to most intensive, and draw patients from across the region. Our San Francisco location, the William H. Tooley Intensive Care Nursery, was among the first NICUs in the world. UCSF has one of the top children's hospitals in the nation, ranked #7 in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report in 2025.

The Nurse Practitioner will act as a member of the care team, taking primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns and infants. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Nurse Practitioner 1:
  • Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master's or doctoral degree aligned with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Specialization.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent working experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse
Nurse Practitioner 2:
  • Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master's or doctoral degree aligned with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialization
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent working experience in a Level III or IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Nurse Practitioner
