LE01 Valley Children's Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide high-level medical care for newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). About Us

Valley Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is Central California’s only Regional Level IV NICU, providing the highest level of medical care for premature and critically ill newborns. Our patient ratios range from 1:1 or 2:1 in the ICU and 1:3 in Intermediate Care. The NICU serves over 1,400 fragile babies and nearly 25,000 patient days each year, and is part of a network that supports additional satellite NICUs in Madera, Merced, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare counties.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Practitioner accountable for a defined patient population. The role functions as an expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator and researcher within a specialized area of practice. The provider delivers direct patient care under the medical model, supervised by the CCS paneled Neonatologist, and works within the scope of licensure and hospital policies.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (required)
  • Graduate of a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program (required)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire (required)
  • RN – Registered Nurse (required)
  • NP – Nurse Practitioner (required)
  • NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required)
  • NP-C or NP-C National Certification within six (6) months of hire (required)
    or NCC – Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (required)
Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience (required)
  • Minimum five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience demonstrating proficiency in physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute and chronic pediatric problems (preferred)
Skills and Abilities

Bilingual skills preferred. Must successfully complete the credentialing process through the Medical Staff office, including CIDP for the appropriate scope of practice, written standardized protocols and furnishing privileges. The candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and is eligible for reasonable accommodations.

Compensation & Shift

Salary range: $71.40 – $113.75 per hour. Workshift: varied. Position: exempt, 40% FTE, scheduled weekly hours: 16 daily hours.
