Job summary

Trinity Health in Pontiac, MI seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a Level III NICU team providing care for high-risk newborns. The selected NP will assess and manage neonates under pediatric supervision, participate in transports, and contribute to quality improvement within the Family Birthing Center.

Open to full‑time or part‑time work, with opportunities to cover unit support and transport roles across locations, depending on fit. Prior NICU or newborn care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Completion of an NP program or Master’s Degree.
• State of Michigan license to practice as Nurse Practitioner.
• Active and Current DEA registration.
• Specialty certification is preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Function as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by assessing, planning and evaluating medical care under the direction of the attending pediatrician.
• Report accurately to the attending pediatrician and document in a problem-oriented manner.
• Order and interpret laboratory data and plain X-ray films as appropriate.
• Write orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products and for admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Attend high-risk deliveries, resuscitate, and stabilize patients.
• Independently transport to other hospital systems to transfer newborns to the NICU.
• Attend newborn care, resuscitation and stabilization for all deliveries as required.
• Provide consultation to administrative, nursing, and medical staff.
• Direct and/or participate in the ongoing competency assessment program for nursing staff.
• Direct and/or participate in nursing education and ongoing competency assessment.
• Submit appropriate billing in a timely manner.
• Pursue self-development activities through readings, lectures and formal education programs.
• Participate in quality improvement and policy development for the Family Birthing Center.
