Job summary

The Healthier Mississippi People Milk Lab in the NICU is seeking a technician to prepare, label, store, and deliver human milk, donor milk, and ready-to-feed formulas. You will calculate and monitor specialized formulas, maintain records, and ensure sanitation in the Milk Lab.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, verify orders with a dietitian, and operate labeling and production systems while complying with safety regulations. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Math competency test and basic computer skills are expected.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math tasks.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with the multidisciplinary team.
• Experience or registration in healthcare/pharmacy settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares feedings accurately following established formulations and aseptic technique.
• Measures powders and liquids with correct technique.
• Verifies orders with a registered dietitian and uses standardized recipes.
• Uses clinical information systems to obtain orders and print labels.
• Maintains Milk Lab equipment and sanitation, stores prepared feedings properly.
• Delivers feedings to units and cleans work surfaces after preparation.
• Calculates new formulations and logs data for audits and tracking.
