Job summary

South Shore Health in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced RN for the Messina Family NICU with Level III designation. The unit is staffed by doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists with specialized newborn care training, affiliated with both SSH and Boston Children’s Hospital.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years current NICU level III RN experience required.
• RN licensure; BLS, ACLS, NRP and other department-specific certifications may be required.
• Preferred graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Medication Administration in accordance with SSH policies and procedures.
• Develop, discuss, and communicate a prioritized plan of care for each patient.
• Initiate admission assessment within 8 hours of admission and identify teaching needs.
• Document all patient care following nursing policy and unit standards.
• Assess pain, comfort, and document responses to interventions.
• Facilitate discharge/transfer with goal of 12:00pm and communicate barriers.
• Maintain a culture of safety and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Engage in professional development and evidence-based practice.
• Utilize Lotus Notes and department software; operate during downtime.
• Protect patient privacy and comply with hospital privacy/security programs.
