Summary

The NP - Nurse Practitioner shall be responsible to perform tasks and procedures delegated by the collaborating Physician within their scope of practice. This individual will perform complete, detailed, and accurate histories, as well as review patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner will complete physical examinations, make diagnoses, and institute therapy, including drug therapy. This individual will also institute emergency measures and emergency treatment, arrange hospital admissions and discharges at the direction of the collaborating Physician, and perform hospital rounds when needed. The Nurse Practitioner will provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education / Experience

Master degree in Nursing required. Minimum 2 years’ related experience required. CVICU Nurse Practitioners require 2 years of ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) experience.

License / Certification

Active RN license required, active Nurse Practitioner license required, BLS required, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification through National Certification Corporation (NCC) required for those in the NICU, Nurse Practitioner certification through American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required in all other areas. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be required based upon assigned department.
