Job summary

Jobtailor in Atlanta seeks an experienced Neonatal Advanced Practice provider to manage care for high-risk newborns in collaboration with the neonatology team. You will lead assessments, develop care plans, and participate in high-risk deliveries, ensuring timely stabilization and family involvement.

Responsibilities include documenting care, teaching families, and supporting staff orientation. Requires NNP/AC-PNP or PA credentials, Georgia APRN licensure, BLS and NRP, with ICU neonatology

Qualifications

• Must hold NNP/AC-PNP or PA certification and Georgia APRN licensure.
• Experience in ICU or ICU-like neonatal settings strongly preferred.
• ACNP/NP or PA credentialing with BLS and NRP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Manage care for high-risk newborns and families under neonatology supervision.
• Care for neonates with moderate conditions and during recovery.
• Attend and assist with routine and high-risk deliveries with medical team.
• Collaborate to identify and stabilize at-risk infants and establish care plans.
• Obtain comprehensive perinatal histories and perform physical assessments.
• Document all patient care using established charting procedures.
• Serve as a consultant on chronically ill infants and complex cases.
• Assist with family education and outreach classes; help with staff orientation.

Job description

• Manage care for high-risk newborns and their families in emergency and non-emergency situations under attending neonatologist supervision and established protocols
• Manage neonates with moderate health conditions or recovering from more serious conditions
• Attend and assist with routine and high-risk deliveries in collaboration with the medical team
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and stabilize at-risk infants and establish care plans
• Obtain comprehensive perinatal histories
• Perform physical assessments and interpret findings
• Perform or order diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for newborns with required physician supervision
• Document all aspects of patient care using established charting procedures
• Serve as a consultant on care of chronically ill infants and patients with complex medical problems
• Assist with family education
• Teach classes as part of outreach education activities
• Assist with staff orientation and serve as a preceptor
• Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (AC-PNP), or Physician Assistant (PA) program
• Experience working as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant in an ICU or ICU-like setting
• Currently licensed as an acute care advanced practice provider in Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing
• Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• At least one year of direct neonatology experience preferred
• Related experience preferred
• Master’s-prepared Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with APRN licensure in Georgia preferred
• Master’s-prepared Physician Assistant with APRN licensure in Georgia preferred
