Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Neonatal NP/PA to join the Newborn Medicine team in Charlottesville. You will provide inpatient newborn care from delivery through discharge, attend deliveries, and collaborate with physicians in a high-acuity NICU setting.

The role includes a structured orientation and mentorship, with weekends required and 12-hour shifts. Compensation ranges from $55.82 to $82.29 per hour, with the final offer based on experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited pediatric or family NP/PA program with master’s degree.
• Virginia license or eligibility to practice recognized as APNP/PA.
• NRP certification required; BLS for healthcare providers standard.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to family-centered newborn care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive newborn assessments and physical examinations.
• Provide inpatient management of newborns from birth through discharge.
• Attend deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation when needed.
• Develop and implement plans of care with physicians and multidisciplinary team.
• Identify higher-acuity cases and facilitate NICU transfer when appropriate.
• Perform newborn circumcisions per standards and privileges.
• Educate families about newborn care, feeding, safety and discharge planning.
• Document care in the EMR and communicate with the team.
• Participate in resident training and learning.
